Happy New Year 2010

The Bell Family Unit would like to wish all of our friends and family a Happy New Year 2010! 2009 turned out to be a very good year for us. For 2009 my New Year Resolution was simple.

“Spend more time with family.”

That was it. It sure seemed like a good idea at the time…

I thought I might do one of those “Year in Review” things, Bell Family Unit style. So in no particular order, here we go.

The King Tut exhibit was in Dallas and the extended family gathered at the folks house to take our trip back in time for King Tut.

I had Steve Martin in my head thru the entire exihibit!

Construction of the Lake Dallas Toll Bridge was completed. We have really enjoyed watching the bridge being built over the last couple of years.

Our Hooten Holler Summer Vacation Adventure took us to Lake Murray in Oklahoma this year with Sabrina and her kids.

The Lake Lydia Gun Club Firing Line at The Folks Cabin in East Texas was good family fun. An I gotta tell you, the entire family knows all about gun control – we all hit our target!

I really enjoyed the BSRacing Memorial Calendar this year. Thanks for the memories Blake.

Remember the Dallas Tea Party? We were there, along with thousands of fellow Texans that were fed up with our government.

We made it to several Lake Dallas High School Choir functions, and I missed on this year. The first time I missed one in a long time. I will not miss any more!

BSRacing went back to the drag strip this summer. When we first built Blakes little high speed high performance road racing girlfriend, the first place we took her was the eighth mile drag strip in Denton for some test & tune. It was nice to go back and watch Blake race his new gas powered skateboard Pontiac Solstice.

And of course who can forget when the EPA condemned Kelleys room this year?

One of the true highlights of 2009 was when my Dad finally bought the motorcycle he had been wanting all along. Dad bought his first Triumph in 1949 and in 2009 he bought another one. A beautiful new Triumph Bonneville!

Brandt Engineering (Where Dad works) had their 1st Annual Brandt Bikes & Bar-B-Que motorcycle show. Dad has more riding time than most of the riders there combined, but he decided to ride the little Honda 70 to the show. I flanked him on one side on the Wide Glide while John flanked him on the other side on his Bandit. It was quite the site to see. We were very disappointed in the judging, as the judges turned out to be dorky salesman that only appreciated the TV show style choppers that were there.

Reunion Arena came down this year in downtown Dallas. I worked on the start up crew for this building and just happened by on the day it came down.

My cousin Robert Summers in Austin bought a motorcycle. A beautifully restored vintage BMW.

The Bell Family Unit Vacation Adventure for 2009 was inspired by and article in the Texas Highways magazine about the Seven Sisters of the Texas Highlands Lakes. We were going to boat the Seven Sisters lakes, however as it turned out the severe Central Texas drought has most of the lake closed due to low water levels. So then why did it rain every single day of our vacation?

Lake Buchannon is so low the ramp doesn't reach the water. Wave Cyndy!

We also went to Long Horn Caverns State Park for vacation this year. Guess this pretty well tells the tale of family adventures underground.

How about Kelley at her high school senior prom? We are so very proud of Kelley.
